Put retro kitsch and a touch of dandyism together and you’ll find what creative director Alessandro Michele has done for Gucci as of 2015. It is worth noting that many of Gucci’s accessories have secured spots on must-have lists of fashion magazines, including the slip-on mules that kickstarted a footwear trend, alongside bags such as the Dionysus and Marmont GG.
For Gucci’s Resort 2017 collection, he took his Anglophile tendencies to the next level, taking inspiration from the Union Jack and the ’90s club scene (read: creepers).
As with every Gucci collection, the accessories are always the icing on the cake. This time around, the said creepers made its debut in metallic leather and a whopping four-inch rainbow platform sole. If that didn’t steal the accessory game that day, we don’t know what else did.
While it might scream drama queen to some of us, these platform sneakers are the perfect statement-making kicks that will jazz up any ensemble. Take styling cues from Gucci’s Resort 2017 campaign by pairing it with ankle-length socks and a pleated skirt to let it stand out.
