The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez is heartbreaking.

There is never a justification for child abuse of any form. The murder of Gabriel Fernandez was done coldly and preplanned in my opinion. He was exposed to repeated maltreatment with an end aim of death. The defendant claims it was out of anger but this has been done several times and this child has been tortured and stressed mentally. I always tell my friend, that family doesn't always mean connected by blood and this case has proven it, as Gabriel Fernandez, a child, helpless and with the heart of a child couldn't do anything but go through such ill-treatment from a man 10 times bigger than him who happens to be his mother's boyfriend.

This is a documentary on Netflix that also exposed a failed system in America after everyone who was supposed to look into Gabriel's case failed him. He was killed by his mother's boyfriend.  This case is very sensitive and complicated as many people are being held responsible in connection to neglect for the death of Gabriel Fernandez. Gabriel was isolated from playing with his siblings and beaten regularly.

Gabriel is an eight-year-old boy from Palmdale, California. Watching this documentary broke my heart because I could feel that Gabriel had so many unanswered questions such as
Does anybody love me?
Does my mum love me?
Where is my uncle?
Where is my teacher?
Why is this guy that calls himself my mother's boyfriend doing this to me?.
Sadly he got no answers before he left this cold world to his eternal resting place.

I am waiting for the next episodes to be out on Netflix.
Movie title: The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez.
This is the movie roundup summary.
(A boy’s brutal murder and the public trials of his guardians and social workers prompt questions about the system’s protection of vulnerable children).

I went on Quora and asked for peoples opinions about the death of Gabriel Fernandez and here is the 1st reply.
It is absolutely revolting and disgusting. The fact that this poor boy was tortured to death makes me so angry. The fact that no one wanted to do anything about it makes me even more upset. It is beyond my comprehension to how people can be so evil. In my opinion, the mother is the first one at fault. Pearl Fernandez equally deserved the death penalty as her boyfriend if not even more. Not only did she let this terrible man into the life of her children she was equally as brutal as he was. She is not a mother. Her mental instability is in no way, shape or forms an excuse to the atrocious acts she has committed. The social workers are incompetent having not fulfilled their duty in protecting vulnerable children. They have ignored all the signs. They didn’t take him to the medical child abuse specialist who could have without a doubt saved his life.
The American system failed him. Humanity did as well.

  1. It is so sad when there are murders, especially when children are involved. There is no excuse for it - you can still love your partner's child. I haven't seen this documentary yet, but need to check it out.

    1. People are just so wicked and selfish. This little boy who had nothing but an innocent soul wasn't in the way of anything. What is stopping this guy from loving this boy, if Gab's mother doesn't love him why not make her love him. This is just so crazy. You should go and see this documentary.

    1. We need to also learn t look out for other children in the right manner. This boy had the chance of getting away from hos mother but instead the weak system did not pay attention to him.

  7. It always amazes me to see that these cases of blatant and severe abuse can go unnoticed by so many. From the child's family to his school to neighbors and social services. It makes me wonder what I might be missing that's going on in my own neighborhood. I also have to wonder why social services can overlook something like this and leave a child in an abusive situation yet give a family who is trying to do their best for a child by homeschooling and remove the children from the home. The system is defective and obviously some people are defective. I haven't heard much on the story since they found Gabriel, but will have to look into this series. It's just heartbreaking. How can someone do this to someone so defenseless? How could his mother allow it to happen?

    1. I believe there is more to this story that is yet to be told. I also wonder, as we share the same thoughts, whats happening in our neighborhood, the children we see everyday whats going on with them? It is scary to imagine. I just pray for a better world.

    1. The world have grown from acting so careless to being deeply cruel. Cruel in the sense that he was locked inside a wooden box sometimes. Crazy world.

  9. I know I want watch this but keep putting it off. I know it is going to make me really angry as these stories always do and then I find I am thinking about it for hours and hours and then days and sometimes I am get so angry and thinking about it I have trouble sleeping. Hence why I have put it off. But almost worse then then the so called parents is the system that allowed it. I mean did they learn nothing of a very similar case 30 years earlier in NY the Lisa Steinberg case, a 7 year old, who was killed by her illegally adopted criminal defense lawyer father. A murder who spent 17 years in prison and who is now out. Seriously.

  15. Melody, I appreciate you sharing your perspective on this story and bringing it even more attention. The system really does fail so many people. I can’t read any more of this though or even watch the documentary because I literally just got physically nauseated as I felt my heart shatter just reading this little bit. Keep shining your light into the world, my friend. Clearly our worlds need it.
