International Labour Day (May Day), May 1

International Workers' Day, also known as Labour Day but also referred to as May Day in most countries is a celebration of laborers and workers in our society. 1 May was chosen to be International Workers' Day to commemorate the 1886 Haymarket affair in Chicago. In that year beginning on 1 May, there was a general strike for the eight-hour workday.  It became a yearly commemoration, inspiring American workers to have their first stoppage. Mayday is a public holiday, so don't forget to relax, have fun and unwind.

National Honesty Day: Celebrated Every 30th April.

Today is national honesty day. Every 30TH of April which is the last day of the month April we celebrate trustworthiness, openness, truthfulness, and frankness. This day was established in other to motivate people to not forget the importance of honesty.

National Honesty Day was created by M. Hirsh Goldberg while he was doing research for his book: “The Book of Lies: Schemes, Scams, Fakes, and Frauds That Have Changed the Course of History and Affect Our Daily Lives.” in 1991. While some critics say that he coined this holiday to sell more books, Mr. Goldberg has stated that he created the holiday to serve as a contrast to April Fool’s Day.

International Jazz Day April 30 in honor of Jazz music.

Jazz Appreciation Month is from April 1 - April 30.

Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) is a music festival held every April in the United States, in honor of jazz as an early American art form.  It was created in 2001 by John Edward Hasse, a curator at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in recognition of the contribution jazz is made in our society. Jazz as a music genre has an influence on our mental health. International Jazz Day April 30 in honor of Jazz music.

It was initially funded by the Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation, whose archives are currently housed at the Smithsonian. The aim of (JAM) event is to recognize the historic and cultural significance jazz music has impacted. 

Smithsonian Folkways Recordings group received permission from the estate of Louis Armstrong (the well-known jazz trumpet player) to release his recordings on a new album titled Satchmo IN 2012. The release was made at the National Press Club as part of the 2012 annual Jazz Appreciation Month events.

190g | 1 1/2 cups white spelt or all-purpose flour

20g | 1/4 cup raw cacao powder

80g | 1/2 cup muscovado sugar or coconut sugar

80g | 1/2 cup light brown sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

65g | 1/3 cup coconut oil, melted, room temp

80ml | 1/3 cup espresso, warm

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon white vinegar

240ml | 1 cup water

April 1-30th April marks the beginning of Bowel Cancer Awareness month. This awareness is channeled towards raising funds and treating bowel cancer. The Beating Bowel Cancer and Bowel Cancer UK are charity organizations to ensure that there would be no victims of Bowel Cancer by the year 2050.

Be aware that Bowel Cancer is the second biggest killer cancer in the United Kingdom, but it is treatable and curable, especially when diagnosed at an early stage, this is why reporting early symptoms is very important. When bowel cancer of any other cancer type is diagnosed early enough this can save a life.

The three dimensions to a great marriage.

There are three dimensions a man and woman must find themselves operating in to know they are ready for marriage. If you are not operating in these dimensions you are simply not ready for marriage.

The three dimensions for men are:

1. As a husband.

The dimension of a man as a husband defines the scope of his ministry to his wife. Every man needs to understand that scripturally you have a ministry exclusive to his wife, and if you have not trained yourself to be able to carry out that ministry to your wife effectively, you will not be able to get married, and if you do you will never enjoy your marriage. The dimension of a man as a husband defines his intimacy with his wife, meeting her emotional and psychological needs. All of these together define the role of a man as a husband. 

The danger with this is that in our society there are not many husbands, they may be fathers, men of God, many leaders but poor husbands because they often forget that there is an exclusive role that a man should play to his wife. There are many pastors, businessmen church leaders, entrepreneurs, public figures, and celebrities who are starving their wives of this dimension. You are not a husband when a wife comes to you, you are a husband when you are prepared to meet the dimension of being a husband.  Do not wait for marriage to make you a husband, you are first a husband before marriage.  This dimension trains you to understand who a woman is. Women are emotional, the bible said to dwell with them according to knowledge. One of the greatest ministries of a man is to be able to give his wife emotional security. When a man begins to compare his lady or his wife with another woman, what you are simply telling your lady/wife is that she is short of a standard. You begin to mount pressure on that lady. Every lady wants to come to the man God has given her and feel secured. Both males and females have liabilities, there are weaknesses and there are strengths. Nothing is embarrassing about it.
