International Cesarean Awareness month: April 1-April 30.

April is International Cesarean Awareness Month is organized by ICAN - The International Cesarean Awareness Network. ICAN is a non-profit organisation.

ICAN is a non-profit organization with a mission is to improve maternal-child health by reducing preventable cesareans through education, supporting cesarean recovery, and advocating for vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). 

The mission

Helping them to identify an appropriate provider and birth facility based on their health status and birth intentions.

Facilitating confidence in their ability to navigate informed consent and refusal/declination conversations with care providers.

Encouraging adding a birth doula on their team, to offer support, information, and assistance with coping and comfort measures. (Awareness days info).




What Is Cesarean Awareness Month?

  • CAM FOCUSES ON ALL TOPICS SURROUNDING CESAREANS, INCLUDING REDUCING PREVENTABLE CESAREANS, SUPPORTING CESAREAN RECOVERY, AND ADVOCATING FOR VAGINAL BIRTH AFTER CESAREAN (VBAC)
