Jesus instituted it on the eve of His death during His final meal with His disciples. It is to be observed in remembrance of Christ’s atoning death and the second coming. The two emblems of this ordinance are unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine, representing the broken body of Christ and His shed blood, respectively. Here are some qualities of the Lord’s Supper: One, it is a regular opportunity for believers to examine their relationship with the Lord. Two, before partaking in the Lord’s Supper, it is vital to ensure that there is no sin in our lives. Three, it serves as a reminder of the passing nature of our physical bodies and eternal nature of the spiritual. Four, we are to take it until Christ’s Second Coming. Five, it is a warning of judgment for those who don’t partake in it. All believers should savour this supper instituted by the Saviour.
