Sighthill neighbourhood Glasgow

Hi everyone, and welcome back! Today's post is a little different from the usual travel adventures. Instead of a destination far away, we're taking a stroll through a neighborhood that's become a favorite of mine and my partner. It's a place we often go for walks, and once, we even spent an afternoon simply relaxing in the car while he read, enjoying a bowl of rice and stew. It was such a peaceful day, and of course, we couldn't resist snapping a few photos, which I'll be sharing with you.

Sighthill is a neighborhood located in the Scottish city of Glasgow. Positioned north of the River Clyde, it forms part of the larger Springburn area in the northern part of the city.

This neighborhood is still under development, so there’s a lot of open space. It's rarely crowded, making it the perfect spot to sit back, relax, and watch the birds or ducks at the nearby ponds. It’s just a stone’s throw away from Pinkston Water Park, and the two spots complement each other beautifully.

What I Love About Sighthill

Sighthill is peaceful and calm, with plenty of outdoor space that feels perfect for both kids and adults. I’m not sure what the future holds for the remaining open areas – whether they’ll be developed into more housing – but I personally hope they keep some of the natural beauty that makes this place feel so special.

The ponds here add a perfect touch of nature to the neighborhood, creating a balanced blend of modern living and outdoor tranquility. And because they’re set a little away from the housing areas, they offer a quiet retreat without feeling too far from home.

There’s a school and a church nearby, and I’ve noticed they’re selling houses in the area. One thing I’ve observed is that the front yards are quite small, almost right on the street, but even so, the overall feel of the neighborhood remains green, quiet, and inviting.

I’d love to hear your thoughts! What do you think of this neighborhood? Could you imagine yourself living in a place like this?

  1. ...I found that Sighthill was formed as part of the Springburn Comprehensive Development Area. That sounds good to me.

  5. Thanks for the Invitation to pop over, what a lovely place to live! I've never visited Scotland, but my Mom was from North Wales and I've been there {born there actually}, my Dad met my Mom there when they had American Military Bases in her Country. My American Dad was stationed in England so we got to spend time there too in the 1970's. Both my Brother and I were Born abroad in fact, my Mom always went Home to give Birth, feeling more supported there since her Family are quite close and my Parents had an intercultural interracial Union, which back in those days was not as acceptable in America, so it was probably safer for Mother and Child in Europe in those Days. I still have relatives in North Wales and on the Reservations of America. I Love the Arizona Desert where we Retired, my Husband was Career Military just like my Dad was. Thanks for Sharing a slice of your Heaven here on Earth, I've added your delightful Blog to my sidebar.

  7. I hope the developers take note of your observations. We all benefit from being around nature. The water lilies looked amazing, I can see why you would like to spend quality time there. I have been to Glasgow but that was over 30 years ago so definitely time for another visit.

  10. I lived for a couple of years in Hyndland and then moved to Milngavie. However, I left the Glasgow area many, many years ago. Sighthill is not somewhere that I ever visited. The water lilies are lovely.

  14. The water lilies are quite lovely and I think the last photo gives the best vibe. It’s too bad about the graffiti, though. The white bench is inviting.

  34. Not far from where my Grandma grew up, she said she played " Chucky stones" in the Clyde. Then My Mum was born in Cambuslang, a little further south near Hamilton, Coatbridge and Motherwell. They came to New Zealand in 1909.Thanks for your comment on my blog, Grandson continues to enjoy Vancouver and the areas surrounding it. Rock Climbing, and very soon skiing, I hear that they can do night skiing not too far out of town. Greetings, Jean.
