Chidimma Adetshina is Miss Universe 2024.

By now, I’m sure most of you are aware of the recently concluded Miss Universe competition. I followed the show closely, and in my opinion, Miss Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, truly deserved that crown. She was the clear standout, but of course, the judges made their choice, and she ended up as the first runner-up.

Chidinma answered all her questions with poise and intelligence, and she’s an absolutely stunning woman. I’m not just saying this because she’s Nigerian—I genuinely believe she was the best on that stage.

For those who may not know, Chidinma is a dedicated law student who has faced considerable backlash from some in South Africa due to her mixed heritage. Despite this, Nigeria has embraced her wholeheartedly, and she’s made us incredibly proud.

Congratulations to all the participants. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

  5. She is a really strong and resilient woman, overcoming hate and xenophobia to achieve her life goals. She fell short at the final hurdle, and I think the final winner is also a queen in her own rights. At the end of the day, she was crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceania which is a really massive feat in its own right. She is the symbol of the unknown struggles faced by the African girl child, a beacon of faith and hope indeed. Nigeria should feel proud, and South Africa can hang their heads in shame because I believe she would have performed much better without the shenanigans.

    1. Thank you for your thoughtful message. I truly appreciate your recognition of her strength, resilience, and the incredible journey she's had. Being crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceania is indeed a significant achievement, and it highlights her dedication and perseverance despite facing challenges like xenophobia and discrimination. She’s an inspiration not just for Nigerian girls but for all who face adversity.

    1. Absolutely. But these qualities have a deeper, timeless value that transcends any crown or title.

  11. I didn't follow the Miss Universe competition, but I can understand why you feel Miss Nigeria should've won! She is beautiful and sounds very accomplished. Being a law student would be incredibly difficult, especially to balance that with all of the pageant responsibilities. It makes me sad to hear that she has dealt with backlash. That makes it even more powerful that you are posting here in support! I love the way you lift up others. You are an example of kindness and light in a world that often feels dark. <3

  12. I didn't watch it, but she is Stunning, Glamourous and so Classy. She'd be a Winner if I was Judging, but I've always felt with these Pageants, Beauty is so Subjective that it really does depend on whose Judging the Contestants and Beauty being in the Eye of any Beholder. And Globally, what is considered most Beautiful and Attractive varies wildly from Nation to Nation, from Culture to Culture. I know my Mom, who was an Immigrant, used to get so angry at who her Country sent to these Pageants becoz it was always a Woman who just looked 'different' and not at all like most of her Culture, who had some drop dead gorgeous Women who could have represented more authentically, the Culture. How many times have we seen that be True of any Contestant thru our Individual Lens? I think this Gal was/is a Winner regardless of who got First Place. Seeing Beauty in an Ugly World is Uplifting right now.

    1. You are so right. It’s heartbreaking to hear about the backlash she’s faced.
We all define beauty in different ways, and most of the time, the standards are set by the judges. That’s why it’s a competition and shouldn’t be taken to heart, so one doesn’t lose their confidence. Another pretty girl might not be the beauty standard for someone who prefers a shorter woman over a taller lady. I think many of the contestants did well, but of course, Chidnma, in my opinion, had an exceptional performance and confidence or aura that shined really bright. Thank you for your comment.

  13. Although Denmark is one of Finland's neighboring countries. I, too, would have given the win to a wonderful woman from Nigeria.

    1. I understand you. I believe all the ladies performed well, some even exceeding expectations, but remember, a competition is a competition, and the judges' choice determines the winner. Congratulations to them all.

  15. I didn't followed the show, but looking at her pics and after reading your post, definitely she deserved the crown!
But I guess that in these contests there are many factors to take into account: even just the beauty standards are different from contry to country...
My mom was a beauty pageant when she was young and she said the there are a lot of things that can influence judges, even just your way you walk or smile or your voice, ecc.., at the end its very subjective.
Anyway to my opinion she's really stunning and emanates confidence and class, totally deserved to be the winner!
