With rising temperatures due to climate change, it’s important to find ways to stay cool. Just walking across a parking lot in the heat can make you sweat. This summer has been tough for everyone.

Don’t wait until you’re overheated to cool down. Be aware of high temperatures throughout your day and try these 14 tips to stay cool:

Cover the Basics
  1. Check the weather: Use a weather app to track hourly temperatures and plan your day around the hottest times.
  2. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids to replace what you lose through sweat. Women need about 11 cups (88 ounces) and men need about 15 cups (120 ounces) per day. If you’re outdoors a lot, you’ll need even more.
  3. Seek air conditioning: Spend time in air-conditioned places during the hottest parts of the day. If you don’t have AC, visit a mall, library, movie theater, or cooling center.
  4. Use fans wisely: Fans can help cool you down by blowing heat away from your body. If the air is hot, wet your skin with a spray bottle or wet wipe to promote evaporative cooling.
  5. Take breaks: Pace yourself during outdoor activities. Physical work generates heat, so be active for short periods and rest in between.
Pack and Dress for Heat

6. Bring Cool-Downs: Always carry water, a handheld fan, wet wipes, and ice packs when you go out.

7. Wear loose clothing: lightweight, loose-fitting clothes allow air to reach your skin and help you stay cool.

8. Try High-Tech Clothes: Consider clothes with cooling technology, like special fabrics that stay damp and pull heat from your body.
Protect Your Vehicle: What Not to Leave Inside During Hot Weather

Did you know that you should never leave certain items in your car? Some items have the potential to cause explosions! If you're a car owner or driver, you really need to check this out!
Listen up! It's truly enlightening. So, buckle up and brace yourself for some surprising stuff.

1. Lighters: Lighters contain flammable materials and pressurized gas. When exposed to high temperatures, especially in direct sunlight, the pressure inside the lighter can increase, causing it to explode. The flammable materials inside can ignite, leading to a potential fire hazard.

2. Power Bank: Power banks often contain lithium-ion batteries, which are susceptible to heat. When exposed to high temperatures, such as those in a car on a hot day, the batteries can become unstable and may catch fire or explode. Leaving the power bank in direct sunlight, which can further raise the device's temperature, significantly increases this risk.

3. Perfume and Mineral Water: Both perfume and mineral water can contain alcohol, which is flammable. When left in direct sunlight, the heat can cause the liquid to evaporate rapidly, creating a highly flammable atmosphere. If exposed to an ignition source, such as a spark, this vapor can ignite, leading to a fire.

4. Snacks: Snacks, especially those containing oils or fats, can spoil when exposed to high temperatures. The heat can cause the fat to oxidize, leading to rancidity and a change in taste and texture. Additionally, heat can accelerate microbial growth, increasing the risk of foodborne illness.

5. Glasses: Heat can damage glasses, especially those with plastic frames or prescription lenses. Plastic frames may melt or warp, while lenses can act as magnifying glasses, focusing sunlight onto nearby surfaces and potentially causing fires. Furthermore, exposure to high temperatures can cause metal frames to become hot enough to result in burns when worn.

6. Sun Cream: The active ingredients in sun cream can degrade when exposed to high temperatures, reducing their effectiveness in protecting the skin from UV radiation. Prolonged exposure to a hot car can accelerate this degradation, potentially resulting in inadequate sun protection. According to the FDA, sunscreen can catch fire.

7. Damp Beach Items: Damp beach items, such as swimsuits and towels, provide a moist environment ideal for the growth of bacteria and yeast. When left in a hot car, the temperature and humidity can further promote microbial growth, increasing the risk of infections or unpleasant odors.

8. Electronics: Electronic devices, including smartphones, laptops, and tablets, can suffer damage when exposed to high temperatures. Heat can affect the performance and lifespan of batteries, cause components to expand or contract, and even lead to thermal shutdowns or malfunctions. To prevent damage, it's advisable to avoid leaving electronics in hot cars whenever possible.

9. Handbags/Wallets: Handbags and wallets left in cars are vulnerable to theft, as they often contain valuable items such as credit cards, cash, and smartphones. Additionally, the warm and confined environment of a car can promote the growth of bacteria on items frequently touched by hands, potentially leading to hygiene issues or skin infections.

10. Aerosols (Pressurized Canisters): Pressurized aerosol cans, such as deodorants and hair sprays, pose a risk of explosion when exposed to high temperatures. The heat can cause the pressure inside the canister to build up, leading to ruptures or explosions. To mitigate this risk, it's important to store aerosols in a cool and well-ventilated environment.

11. Batteries: Batteries, both disposable and rechargeable, can leak or explode when exposed to high temperatures. Heat accelerates chemical reactions within the battery, leading to the release of corrosive electrolytes or gases. This not only poses a safety hazard but can also cause damage to the interior of the vehicle.

12. Plants: Plants left in hot cars are susceptible to heat stress and dehydration, which can quickly lead to wilting or even death. To prevent damage, it's important to keep plants shaded and hydrated during transport and avoid leaving them in the car for extended periods, especially on hot days.

Not every perfume is suitable for summer; some scents are stronger and can overwhelm, leaving people stressed and offended. Growing up, we had what we called "Aboki perfume" - strong, overpowering scents that filled a room, making it hard to breathe and causing discomfort. If you're in the habit of wearing such, consider lighter options that still smell nice and are more accommodating. Before purchasing, check reviews or do a test. Today, I'll share summer-appropriate perfumes, highly recommended ones like two Zara perfumes:

1. NUDE BOUQUET Eau de Parfum: This fragrance combines vibrant yuzu freshness with a delicate white floral bouquet, featuring notes of cherry, peony, and vanilla. It offers long-lasting wear and is a budget-friendly alternative to Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet. It uplifts your mood, suits all seasons, and strikes a perfect balance between heaviness and lightness. Plus, it comes in an adorable box.

2. Violent Blossom: This perfume is charmingly lovely and has a simple yet captivating scent. It's sweet, warm, cozy, and a bit floral, with hints of Tonka and cherry. Its long-lasting nature makes it a delightful choice. With a simple design and a uniquely alluring scent, it evolves into an irresistibly good fragrance as it dries down.

3. Zara Woman Fruity Eau de Toilette: This perfume offers a refreshing and fruity scent that is perfect for the warmer months of summer. With its lively and vibrant notes, it brings a sense of energy and brightness to any day. Additionally, its fruity aroma can also be uplifting during the cooler days of spring and add a touch of freshness to the crisp air of winter.

4. Zara Man Silver Eau de Toilette: This fragrance features a blend of citrus and woody notes, making it a versatile option that transitions well between seasons. The citrus top notes provide a refreshing burst ideal for summer, while the woody undertones add warmth and depth that complement the cooler temperatures of winter. In spring, its balanced combination of freshness and richness makes it a timeless choice.

Top deodorant for summer

Summer is coming, and people are excited about it, but there are people who forget about the summer preparations needed to make summer a pleasant season for everyone. I am talking about summer essentials. We need to make sure we have a beautiful summer, smelling nice and good, protecting our skin and looking good, and letting other people breathe well. So I will just break this post down into different categories: body, skin, and skin protection.

During the summer, it's really important to take care of yourself. As a teenager or an adult, you'll sweat more when it's hot. This can sometimes make you smell a bit. I don't want to disappoint you, but most natural deodorants might not work as well during the summer months. And I do not mean to burst your bubble; there are very few organic deodorants that do the magic in the summer. In winter, you can use organic deodorants, and they might work for you, but in summer, organic isn't the best. From experience, I have not used organic deodorants that keep the armpit sweating away, so if you want to smell good and let others breathe in the summer, then you need to use a good 48-hour deodorant. So the question is: What are the best deodorants for summer? I am sharing what I have used that has worked for me, but note that to also help any deodorants work excellently, shaving your armpit would be great.

Having hair in your armpits during the summer might not be ideal. It doesn't really help, and the combination of hair and deodorant can sometimes block the sweat glands, leading to increased sweating. Shaving your armpits can help reduce this issue and improve the effectiveness of your deodorant.

Regarding sunscreen:

Using sunscreen is essential year-round, not just in summer. However, some sunscreens can feel oily and make you sweat, causing discomfort and even staining your clothes. Consider using Calypso Sun Clear Protect Dry Oil Spray Sunscreen. This sunscreen dries up immediately after application and has a pleasant scent, making it a great choice for daily use.

To prevent shoe odors in the summer:

1. Make sure to wash your shoes regularly, especially after prolonged use.

2. Air out your shoes frequently to prevent moisture buildup.

3. Use shoe sprays specifically designed to prevent odors.

4. Apply powder to your feet before wearing shoes to absorb moisture.

5. Spray deodorant on your feet to keep them smelling fresh.

6. Note that using deodorant inside stinky shoes may temporarily cover up the smell but won't provide a lasting solution. Instead, consider using rubbing alcohol as a spray. Pour some rubbing alcohol into a spray bottle and mist the interior of your shoes. The alcohol will kill bacteria and eliminate odors as it dries, leaving your shoes smelling fresh.

Here are some summer hygiene and grooming tips to keep you feeling fresh and confident:

1. Foot Hygiene:

   - Wash your feet thoroughly during your bath, paying attention to the spaces between your toes.

   - Use essential oils or foot wash to cleanse and maintain foot hygiene.

   - Treat athlete's foot with anti fungal products if necessary.

   - Wear socks only once and wash them to prevent bacterial growth.

   - Allow your shoes to fully dry between wearings and rotate pairs if possible.

   - Wash shoe insoles frequently or replace them regularly.

   - Opt for breathable shoe materials and sweat-wicking socks.

   - Use foot spray deodorant to freshen and deodorize your feet.

2. Hygiene for Skin Folds:

   - Take time to open and clean skin folds thoroughly during your bath, as sweat can accumulate in these areas and cause odor.

3. Perfume Choice for Summer:

   - Choose perfumes that are suitable for both summer and winter to avoid overpowering scents in hot weather.

   - Floral perfumes are generally a good choice for summer. Try the nude bouquet Eau de parfum by Zara, it has vibrant freshness of yuzu highlights a delicate white floral bouquet and the Violent blossom perfumes.

4. Private Parts Hygiene:

   - Ensure thorough cleaning of your private parts during bathing to prevent odor.

   - Avoid using irritating products on your private parts.

5. Clothing Hygiene:

   - Avoid wearing thick clothing in the summer to stay cool.

   - Plan your wardrobe to avoid repeating clothes too often, as sweating can lead to discomfort and offensive odors for those around you.

   - Opt for lighter clothes that allow your skin to breathe.

6. Underwear Hygiene:

   - Change your underwear daily and avoid reusing them for hygiene reasons.

7. General Summer Hygiene:

   - Shave regularly to stay comfortable and avoid excessive sweating.

   - Use deodorants that provide 48-hour protection to stay fresh throughout the day.

   - Purchase deodorants from trusted suppliers to ensure quality and effectiveness.

   - Take baths twice a day in the summer to stay clean and refreshed.

   - Consider carrying a mini perfume to refresh your scent during the day.

8. Menstrual Period Hygiene:

In hot weather, wearing sanitary pads for long periods can lead to odor. To stay fresh and clean, it's a good idea to change them regularly. Switching to breathable organic cotton pads can help, as materials like plastic can trap heat and moisture, reducing airflow to the vagina. Organic pads, are soft and comfortable against delicate areas. So, opting for cotton pads is a great solution. They allow air circulation, are gentle on the skin, and reduce the risk of bacterial infections. Make sure to check the absorbency level (flow number) of sanitary pads to avoid stains.

By following these hygiene and grooming tips, you can stay fresh, comfortable, and confident throughout the summer season.

When I first tried this product, I was impressed with how fast it dries on the skin. It dries so quickly and leaves no marks. And you know the best thing? You don't end up sweating after applying this sun protection oil. I felt so comfortable, and my body felt just as normal but was smelling so nice. This is a game changer for real. It's also noted as a convenient option for scalp protection and easy application throughout the day.

How to use the Calypso Clear Protect Dry Oil Spray

Apply generously to all exposed areas and rub in. Reapply often, especially after sweating, swimming, or drying off with a towel. Avoid contact with the eyes, and if contact occurs, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice. It's a good idea to do a patch test before using it.

Benefits include anti-ageing properties, quick-drying, suitability for both wet and dry skin, dermatological testing, and vegan ingredients. Read more on how to care for your skin naturally.

If your skin, usually burns after 10 minutes in the sun, applying SPF 15 sunscreen may protect you from burning for around 150 minutes (15 times longer). However, this estimate varies based on factors like skin type, sunlight intensity, and sunscreen application.

SPF measures protection from UVB exposure and doesn't determine the duration of exposure.

For optimal protection, experts advise using at least SPF 15 sunscreen, applying the recommended amount (about one ounce for full body coverage), and reapplying every 2 hours.

Many people don't apply enough sunscreen, using only ¼ to ½ the required amount. Using half the necessary amount provides only the square root of the SPF. So, using half the amount of SPF 30 sunscreen gives an effective SPF of 5.5!

IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING FOR SUMMER, HERE IS THE PERFECT TRAVEL SET FOR YOU.

Aloe vera is a natural substance found in the leaves of the Aloe Vera plant, well-known for its calming, healing, and moisturizing properties. The clear gel inside the leaves is often used topically for its medicinal benefits. Moreover, the green part of the leaf can be processed to make juice. When added to creams, aloe vera provides excellent hydration for dry and damaged skin, including skin that's been sunburnt, because of its soothing qualities. In a thick gel form, aloe vera can relieve discomfort from cuts, burns, or insect bites when applied gently. Calypso After Sun Aloe Vera Gel utilizes the benefits of aloe vera to soothe the skin after sun exposure.

Fast-Drying Calypso Clear Dry Oil Spray

Here are answers to some common questions:

1. Will I still tan with a higher SPF? Yes, you will tan, but it may take a bit longer. However, your tan might last longer too, as your skin adjusts to the sun gradually.

2. What does SPF stand for? SPF stands for sun protection factor. It indicates a sunscreen's ability to shield your skin from the sun's rays along with your skin's natural defenses. Your sun tolerance depends on factors like skin type, hair color, eye color, and location.

3. How does SPF 30 work? If you apply SPF30 sunscreen, it means you can stay in the sun thirty times longer than without sunscreen. But remember, you must apply sunscreen as directed and use enough initially for maximum coverage.

4. Do water-resistant sunscreens stay on in the water? Water-resistant sunscreens provide extended protection, but they can still wash off over time. It's recommended to reapply if you spend more than forty minutes in water or after activities that rub your skin, like towel drying or showering.

5. What's the difference between UVA and UVB? Both UVA and UVB rays can damage the skin, but only UVB causes burning. Good sunscreens should protect against both types. Look for the UVA symbol inside a circle to ensure UVA protection along with SPF.

6. Are Calypso SPF products effective? Yes, Calypso SPF products meet all UVA and UVB standards and undergo rigorous testing for effectiveness. However, note that the star rating system is not an industry standard, and Calypso follows the European UVA marking standard.

7. Are Calypso products safe? Yes, all ingredients in Calypso products are approved cosmetic ingredients.

In conclusion, the Calypso Clear Protect Dry Oil Spray absorbs quickly and is made for use in both wet and dry skin. It's water-resistant and shields your whole body and scalp from UVA and UVB rays. This sunscreen is light and gives instant protection for all skin types. It's available in various SPFs, from 6 to 30, to suit your skin's needs. If you need protection for hard-to-reach spots, try the non-greasy Clear Protection, Continuousz Spray, which can be applied from any angle without leaving white marks.
