Satisfying ways to deal with all the food that comes with the holidays.
Many people don't begin eating healthier until January 1. In any case, the holidays are filled with stress and extra portions of rich foods, so why bother?
This, however, is an ideal time to adopt new habits, so dismiss that negative thought. According to Teresa Fung, a registered dietitian at Harvard's T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the dietary changes you make now will help you manage stress and avoid overindulging in holiday foods. You can also start the new year with momentum and determination if you switch to a healthier diet.
Four keys to healthy holiday eating
Fung recommends four excellent strategies for a healthier diet that will give you a head start towards a healthier 2023.
Concentrate on portion control and conscious eating. During the holidays, tempting food options and larger portions—think family dinners and party spreads—often lead to overeating. Fung states that this is a wonderful opportunity to practise portion control. For instance, if three different cakes are available at the party and you enjoy all of them, take a small portion of each. Fung says, "This way, you can enjoy a variety of treats without overindulging."
Eating at large gatherings provides an opportunity to practise mindful eating, which can help prevent overeating. Fung advises, "Concentrate on eating slowly and savouring the flavours, and take breaks to converse and socialise." "The slower pace allows your body to register what you've consumed and send a signal to your brain that you're full, so you're less likely to go back for seconds or thirds."
Push the plants. Make plant-based foods a top priority when planning your holiday meals. The Mediterranean and MIND diets, for instance, emphasise the consumption of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, as well as the use of healthy oils. These diets contain a lot of fibre, vitamins, and minerals, which lower blood pressure and help you stay at a healthy weight (both welcomed gifts during the holidays).
"The holidays are an ideal time to transition to a plant-based diet, as you will be cooking more than usual and will frequently need new meal ideas," says Fung. Here are some ways to initiate a plant-based lifestyle.
Eat more salads. These are great for holiday parties and family dinners because they can be made in large quantities. Fung suggests incorporating a side salad into at least one daily meal.
Adopt a vegetarian day. Once per week, devote an entire day to eating only fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. "This can help you recognise the types and quantities of foods you need to consume without feeling constantly compelled to do so," says Fung. As you become more comfortable, try exercising twice a week. One fun idea is to have different meals or foods on different days of the week, such as whole-grain Wednesdays and stir-fry Fridays.

1. When you are aware that your words have the potential to cause great harm to another person. Even if you don't mean any harm with your words, they can still cut deep if they are insulting, sarcastic, or condescending. Words spoken years after the fact can still have the same crippling effect as those spoken moments later. One's choice of words has the power to either comfort or traumatise.
3. When you feel strong feelings coming on inside, be quiet so we can figure out what's going on.
Your bedroom is perhaps the most personal space in your home. As the place where you go to relax and re-energize, it is worthy of your whole focus. But before you head out to the stores to spruce up your bedroom, have a look at these suggestions for how to make the space as lavish as possible.
Use a rug. One of the simplest ways to make your bedroom look better is to add texture and warmth. Whether you're into florals or more muted tones, like jute, a gorgeous rug will pull your bedroom design together in an instant.
Use a hanging lamp or a pendant light. Eliminating the breast lights is a requirement. Get a dazzling chandelier or other dramatic hanging light to take their place. These Wayfair Chandelier adds drama and romance, so there's no reason to go overboard on your spending.
Focus on the statement pieces. A bed frame made of dark wood, a beautiful gilded dresser, or a velvet armchair may serve as the room's center point. The room should not be crammed with furniture; instead, each piece should be given space to shine.
Put in some plants. The easiest and quickest way to make a place look more expensive is to decorate it with plants. It's totally up to you how this shows up: Do we have a fern of some size? What kind of plants do you have in your little pots above your dresser? Regardless, a few well-placed plants may push a space over the edge into the realm of luxury.

To alleviate your chronic pain, you may have tried one of the many forms of medical cannabis (marijuana). Cannabinoids are the primary active ingredients in marijuana, and the vast majority of the millions of Americans who use products containing them report doing so for pain relief.
A new review in JAMA Network Open says that there is good evidence that a cannabis placebo, which is a substance made to look, smell, taste, and feel like the real thing, gives very similar pain relief as a cannabis-based product. Why is that, though?
What did this study try to find out?
In this meta-analysis of 20 randomised controlled studies, the effect of positive media coverage on patients' hopes that cannabis products will help with pain was looked at. There were a total of 1,459 people in the studies, and most of them had neuropathic pain or pain from multiple sclerosis.
Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) or cannabidiol (CBD), the two main cannabinoids in marijuana, as well as the prescription drugs nabilone (Cesamet), dronabinol (Marinol, Syndros), and nabiximols, were used in these studies as active treatments (Sativex). Both the real drugs and the fake ones were given as pills, sprays, oils, smoked, or vaped. Researchers found that both groups of patients—those who got real treatment and those who got a fake one—felt about the same amount of pain relief.
Ted J. Kaptchuk, who runs the Program in Placebo Studies and The Therapeutic Encounter at the Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, says that the study's results are not shocking. He says that, with the exception of opioids, most painkillers are only slightly more effective than a sugar pill.
In fact, clinical trials of common painkillers like aspirin and ibuprofen have shown that placebos relieve pain about as well as the real drugs. But this doesn't change the fact that the drugs have effects on the body. Instead, a placebo has the same effects or effects that look like the real thing. Kaptchuk says that they just use different neurobiological pathways to work.

There are a lot of things you can do to take care of your skin, from using sunscreen to drinking plenty of water. But this article will focus on eight specific ways which will help keep your skin looking young and healthy for years to come.

Use Sunscreen
The sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause premature aging, wrinkles, and even skin cancer. That’s why it’s important to use sunscreen every day, even if you don’t plan on going outside. Look for a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and make sure it offers broad-spectrum protection and try to wear it all year long (yes, even during the winter times).Additionally, choose a sunscreen with physical ingredients such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, rather than chemical ingredients. These physical blockers block the sun’s rays from penetrating your skin, while chemical blockers merely absorb them.
Non-invasive Treatments
In-office treatments such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion are two noninvasive treatments that can help improve the appearance of your skin. Chemical peels use exfoliants to strip away dead skin cells, while microdermabrasion uses a diamond wand to remove the top layer of skin and stimulate collagen production. On the other hand, if you need to enhance the condition of your skin due to the aging process, weather, and stress factors, you may also consider Botox and dermal fillers. These treatments are minimally invasive, meaning that they involve injections of either botulinum toxin (such as Botox) or hyaluronic acid (such as Juvederm). While there is botox being offered in Glasgow and other major cities, this kind of treatment requires trained professionals to administer the injections. Consider consulting a dermatologist or plastic surgeon to learn more about these treatments.
Eat Skin-boosting Foods
You can’t outsmart genetics when it comes to your skin, but you can ensure that you’re getting the right nutrients to help keep it looking healthy. Eating foods like fruits, vegetables, and omega-3-rich fish will not only help protect your skin from sun damage, but they’ll also give your body the essential vitamins and minerals it needs for glowing skin.Additionally, adding foods rich in antioxidants, such as green tea and dark chocolate, will help fight free radicals and keep your skin looking radiant. Lastly, try to avoid sugary processed foods as these have been found to lead to an increase in wrinkles and age spots.
One of the unspoken guidelines for wearing animal print is to approach it the same way you would any other neutral colour in your closet. This means it can be paired with other prints, like tartan and stripes. Muted brown versions go well with denim, burgundy, navy, and khaki.
I don't like wearing animal prints, and this happened to be one of them, but I pushed myself to buy this dress, and I like the fit.
This dress has very flexible styling options. You can style it with boots, sneakers, sandals, slippers, or heels; all will be perfect with this dress.
The dress is still available at Primark, and you can purchase similar online.
